Vivan Ning.jpeg

Vivian ning, MD

Hometown: Monrovia, CA
Undergraduate: University of California, Berkeley
Medical School: USC Keck School of Medicine
Future Plans: Pulm/Crit vs Hospitalist
Hobbies: Tennis, Watching Sports (particularly college football - Go Bears!), Traveling, Board Games

Bio: I was born in Tianjin, China and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 5.  I went up to Cal for my undergrad studies, but returned to Los Angeles to attend medical school at USC.  Outside of the hospital, I love attending sporting events-- especially if it involves my Cal Golden Bears.  I usually take at least one college football road trip a year.  My travels have included visits to The Horseshoe, Death Valley, and The Big House.  If you had one day to spend in LA, I would recommend hiking through Griffith Park, grabbing some Chinese cuisine at Chengdu Taste in San Gabriel and capping off the day with a trip to Dodger Stadium to watch the Boys in Blue.

HELEN SHEN, MD

Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
Undergraduate: Northwestern University
Medical School: The Ohio State University
Future Plans: Hospitalist
Hobbies: Traveling, Exploring Los Angeles, Cats

Bio: I was born in China and settled into Los Angeles from 2nd grade until college. I studied Biomedical Engineering in college and spent a gap year after college to do research in Washington D.C., followed by medical school at Ohio State. I’ve loved my time at LAC+USC over these past three years, and I’m excited for the upcoming year ahead. If you only had one day to spend in LA (after everything reopens), I recommend biking from Santa Monica to Venice Beach, followed by Korean BBQ at Quarters and drinks at Breakroom 86.

Poorva Vaidya.jpeg

poorva vaidya, MD

Hometown: Irvine, CA
Undergraduate: UCLA
Medical School: Georgetown University
Future Plans: Hematology/Oncology
Hobbies: Traveling, Hiking, Reading, Eating

Bio: Born in India, I grew up mostly in Irvine, CA. I attended college at UCLA, where I studied Molecular, Cell & Developmental Biology. I then did medical school at Georgetown before returning to Southern California for residency. I chose LAC+USC for its breadth of clinical pathology and have found that training here and caring for an underserved population has greatly contributed to my growth as an internist. If you had only one day to spend in LA, I recommend hiking in Malibu, grabbing fish tacos, and then lounging on the beach!
